Love the Lord with all your MIND

When I think of loving the Lord with all my mind, it would be easy to instantly go to a verse like Philippians 4:8 that tells us;

Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

 The problem with this approach is what Isaiah addresses when he says in Isaiah 55:8-9,

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

We are also reminded in Proverbs 28:26,

Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered.

These verses show that we can not think good enough thoughts on our own to love God with our thoughts. So how are we supposed to love the Lord with our thoughts? The verse that helps us understand this is Romans 12:2,

Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.

How does the rest of the world think? What is that pattern?

ME, ME, ME, ME, ME!

In order to think differently than the rest of the world, we must break the pattern of the rest of the world. What would it look like to have a renewed mind that helps us to break the patterns of this world? At Calibrated Values, we simply reverse the pattern of the world and think the way Jesus would. This brings our Calibrated Value for loving God with all our mind to -

Put Others First

No one teaches a child to say the word "mine!" It is a natural tendency for us to fight for ourselves. There is nothing wrong with wanting to take care of your own needs. The problem comes when we do that at the detriment of others. For this reason, we simply say - Put Others First.
