Heart

Love the Lord with all your heart

"The Heart Wants What the Heart Wants"

It is the title of a song by the great theologian Selena Gomez. She borrows these words from the late Emily Dickenson who wrote it a step deeper when she said, “The heart wants what the heart wants, or else it does not care.”

The sentiment is this - the heart is always in motion!

And what does Newton’s Frist Law of Productivity tell us?

An object in motion tends to stay in motion unless acted upon by an equal and opposite force.

Did you know that the spiritual heart is the same?

It wants what it wants, or else it does not care. Not only that, the heart stays in motion until it is either acted upon in an equal and opposite force or its energy is channeled in the right direction.

So how are you directing your heart?

Because if you don’t direct your heart, your heart will direct you.

This is why we get to the place where we have the question, “How did I get here?”

No one ever plans to make a mess of their life. Yet without proper protection and direction, it is easy to find ourselves in a moment where we wonder how we got to the place we are in. The answer is, we took one small step at a time. Each step we make is leading us in the direction we are going. When we allow our hearts to lead us, we go wherever our heart wants to go. At the end of the journey, our untamed hearts will lead us where we never wanted to go and keep us there longer than we ever wanted to stay there.

In the book of Matthew, Jesus gives us a clear bridal to the heart. He says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33 ESV)

In other words, direct the heart to seek after God in all that you do, and He will care for everything else. Or as we like to say in Calibrated Values – Want What God Wants.
